Africa University, located in Old Mutare, Zimbabwe, is the first fully accredited, United Methodist-related institution on the African continent established by action of the 1988 General Conference. The university opened for classes in 1992 with 40 students and currently has an enrollment of 1,246. There are six faculties or colleges: theology, education, agriculture & natural resources, management & administration, humanities & social sciences, and health sciences. There are five postgraduate faculties: agriculture, management & administration, theology, health sciences, and peace, leadership & governance. Congregations and individuals support Africa University across The United Methodist Church.
